Trips

Alhamdulillah, with the nature of a primarily online scholarship, we’re able to welcome students from across the country. However, this also means we aren’t able to see each other in person every week. That’s why in-person meet-ups are an important part of the two-year journey, and often among the most exciting.

Every meet-up has a clear purpose.

We aim for around one gathering per term, balancing the value of being together with the reality that families travel from across the UK.

Induction DayLaunching the programme: the first time students, families and mentors meet in person.
University visitsTrips to universities such as Cambridge and Nottingham, giving students a first-hand look at higher education as one of many paths open to them.
Project work daysIn-person workshop days focused on major project milestones and group work.
Sports & activities daysPhysical activities that encourage wellbeing, teamwork and a healthy student culture.
Socials & get-togethersRelaxed time together, from shared meals to informal get-togethers.
Graduation dayConcluding the scholarship in September: a day to reflect on and appreciate the two-year journey together.
Each cohort’s trips are confirmed closer to the time, and may differ from those listed here.

Cambridge visit, 2025.

One of our recent meet-ups, from college tour to mosque.

Students outside Cambridge Central Mosque
With heartfelt thanks to our dear partners at Cambridge ISoc for their hospitality, guidance and generous time.
01Tour of Homerton CollegeThe morning’s highlight was a Q&A with current Muslim Cambridge students, active in ISoc, who spoke openly about their paths to Cambridge, student life, faith, academics and the challenges they’ve faced.
02Exploring CambridgeFamilies walked through the town centre together. For many, it was their first time visiting one of the UK’s most iconic academic hubs.
03Cambridge Central MosqueThe final stop: a guided tour of Europe’s first eco-friendly mosque, its sustainable architecture, and how everything was built around its communal purpose.
